I weight myself once i wake up, after lunch and then right before i go to bed.. Its like the scale is yelling my name from the bathroom. I dont want to stand on it but i HAVE to. lol.....

Re: scale issues

Ok coming from someone who has openly admitted her issues, I am going to give you some advice. STOP.

Weighing yourself daily is plenty but 3x a day is excessive. Your body weight will fluctuate depending on how much you ate, drank, went to the bathroom..your hormones, sodium etc. What are you accomplishing by weighing yourself 3x a day? You can't accurately see any progress if you do it that frequently so what's the point?

I am on day 3 of no scale. I removed the batteries, and put ito n a shelf high up that I can't reach. I have no decided if I will weigh myself this weekend and make a weekly weigh in time or not yet. Just going tos ee how I feel.

This summer I would weigh myself 3 times a day. I made a decision to jsut stop that cold turkey. It took time but I did it. you can do it too. Please dont ;et this all go out of control.

Re: scale issues

I was doing this for a while, too. I would weigh myself in the morning, after work and before bed. It was ridiculous. I actually kicked the habit when I went away for a week and didn't have access to a scale, and when I came back I just realized I don't need it - my clothes all fit so I know I'm not gaining, and when they feel a bit loose I know I'm losing/toning up. I still weigh myself often - sometimes daily, sometimes every other day, but I really just try to remind myself it is about how I feel, how my clothes fit, the changes I see and not a number on a scale.

Re: scale issues

I battled eating disorders for many years and the scale was something I just had to give up. Actual body weight depends on so many factors---time of the day, time of the month, water weight, a hard workout, after a meal-----how your body feels and fits into your clothes is what you should worry about, not whats on the scale.

I would honestly get rid of the scale, if its there, you'll be using it. I don't own one anymore. I actually saw one cheap at Bed Bath & Beyond a few months ago, bought it and my DH said, "nope, we are not keeping this around for you."

Re: scale issues

For almost 20 years I was weighing myself twice a day. I've been logging my food in a journal for the last 15 years and I would actually skimp on calories if I saw that the scale was up even .2 pounds. Mentally I knew that there were daily fluctuations in our weight but I just couldnt justify eating even something as healthy as a piece of fruit or steel cut oatmeal if I saw that the scale was up.
A few months back I made the decision to weigh myself just once a day....and my husband convinced me to try going a week. Well I didnt succeed the first week. I caved and weighed in on the 4th day. But to my surprise the scale was actually down. So I weighed myself again that Sunday...managed to lose weight that week....and promised myself that I would not step on the scale till the following Sunday. I made sure to eat clean the whole following week and to eat all my macros.
Well....after just a few months I am now only weighing myself once a week....and sometimes I even forget to get on the scale Sunday morning!! (I wont weigh after I had breakfast though LOL)
I've been doing alot more weight training recently and while the scale doesnt move much I've lost many inches around my waist and hips and went down another dress size. I now rely more on my measuring tape because (and I posted this on another thread) THE SCALE IS A FILTHY LIAR!!!!

Good luck to you.....

Re: scale issues

I used to do the same thing, weigh myself as often as I could but it got to a point when I knew things had to change. I was seeing a nutritionist at the time and they told me to throw out my scale, to not even have one at my house because the temptation would be hard at first. It was difficult to do but I got rid of the scale for years. The first couple of weeks were hard because like any habit, I had to break it. I bought one about a year ago and now only weigh myself once in a while as a check point

Re: scale issues

I've gotten much better about this but for years I would live and die by the scale. When I became overweight, the number would completely define my self worth and that was not ok. Last summer, I recognized that I was weighing compulsively and I stopped. I still weigh myself about 5x/wk just to watch fluctuations but I only "weigh in" one day a week at the gym. I agree with those who said get rid of the scale.

Re: scale issues

I am someone who has struggled with eating disorders for years.
I'll go right to the point... Remove the scale from the house!
Don't just take out the batteries. It will be too tempting. You need to remove from the house completely.
The scale doesn't help anyone.
I saw a nutrition for years. Got weighed the same day/time each week or every two weeks. And sometimes she would have me face away so I couldn't see.
I suggest seeing a nutritionist if you need help with losing, maintaining weight.
Good luck!

Re: scale issues

Get rid of the scale! Put it away like Lauren suggested or remove it from the house if it is too tempting. Weighing your self three times a day is excessive. Your weight will fluctuate through out the day.

Re: scale issues

you need to throw out your scale. Putting it away will not work. You need to have a scale free house.
