Re: how much would you expect to spend?
Depends on what kind of party and what I want to serve. Generally speaking I probably spend about 200-250 for 25-30 people. I don't do decorations though...

Re: how much would you expect to spend?
It really depends on what you are thinking of serving, where you will be purchasing and what your preferences for items are.
Examples: Are you just having beef hamburgers? Are you offering boca burgers or turkey burgers also? Are you doing burgers and hot dogs? Are you doing sausages? What kind of buns did you want to get? Are your sides going to be corn on the cob or macaroni salad or potato salad or all three? Will there be appetizers? What about dessert? Are you providing alcohol? Will it be just beer? SO MANY QUESTIONS.
What I am trying to say, is you need to determine what you want to serve first and then you can estimate how much it costs and tweak it from there.
I'd say for 25 people, it can easily be $250+, especially if you want decorations or are going to use disposable plates, bowls, cup, utensils, etc.
But you can get a lot of paper goods and decorations at the $1 stores.
Shop the circular. Stop and Shop has been having fresh sweet corn 5/$2 and big bags of potatoes for $3.50.
If you are serving beer and don't care about the brand, go for whatever is on sale that week or if you have a bulk store card (Sams, BJS, Costco) go there. Also- for food, I mean, you can get a huge bag of chips for a lot cheaper than the supermarket. It is probably cheaper to get the potatoes or pasta there if you are making a macaroni or potato salad. And a lot of them have a great bakeries with 25 rolls in a bag... or buy 2 packages for the price of 1 type deals.
If you don't have specific brands you like to use you can go store brand on items you need.
The meat will be the biggest thing. Find which proteins you want to serve and then it will still probably be best to get those in bulk as well. If you don't have access to a bulk store, stop and shop does a lot of BBQ big buys I think they are called where they package things cheaper if you get them in the 3lbs or more packaging. and With 25 people you will definitely need more than 3lbs of meat!!
You can spend very little ($125) if you try hard or you can easily spend $400. You just have to plan and then budget.

Re: how much would you expect to spend?
$300 is a good estimate. I think alcohol is the what will bring the price up- not sure if and what you are providing but that will bring you up at least another hundred. Have fuN!!

Re: how much would you expect to spend?
a lot depends on what you have on having...what type of food? just burgers and hote dogs or chicken and meat too? do you have a "drinking" crowd? My family could survive on one case of beer...but if it were friends we would need about 10! I would say $400 if you want beer/liquor, chips, food, side dishes and desserts

Re: how much would you expect to spend?
$250
Depending on when the party is start buying things you see now on sale. We are having my daughters 1/2 birthday June 23 we know we're serving ribs. They are normally $3.99 a pouund, but right now they are $2.99 a pound for baby backs and $2.79 a pound for spare ribs. I bought 2pks of baby and 1 pk of spare. I spent about $75 on that. I know our sides will be grilled corn on the cobb, pasta salad, and baked beans. Corn will be cheap, veggies for pasta salad will be cheap and I have coupons for basically free pasta. Beans went on sale so I stocked up. I bought foam plates sinc ethey are cheap(I know bad me) and at Gordans they sell forks, knives, spoons wrapped in napkins. I bought the pack of 50 for $4. Decorations will be dollar store balloons, and dollar store accessories. We make our own beer so that's all the alcohol we'll serve. I will buy pop as it goes on sale. I fyou have time to plan you can really save a lot. For us the ribs and table rental will be the most expensive. Oh and this is a party of 45 people. IMHO you don't need to serve apps, salads, a meal, desserts, 10 alcohol choices and so on unless it's a bigger event, but that isn't what I think of when I think BBQ either.
