Bells Palsy and dogs, diabetes, and cataracts?

My dog just got diagnosed with Bells Palsy on one side of her face. The vet said it may just be a random thing that should go away within a month, but I have been reading it may not. I just was wondering if anyone else has had a dog with this condition and if it did go away? I got the natural tears to keep her eye lubricated as she cant close it or blink at the moment.

I heard also that it can be associated with diabetes which she does have.

On top of all this my dog just developed cataracts and is blind in the other eye that can close, and almost blind in the other side. She was set to get cataract surgery and now she cant until her eye is able to blink again..

Anyone else have a dog with any of these conditions??

I don't know about Bells Palsy in animals, but I had it myself. I'm also diabetic. It does go away on it's own in a few months. I had some electrotherapy (I called it "shock therapy"... Chat Icon ), which is supposed to speed things up.

This was a few years ago, and not even I can see any effects from it. A year after I got it, I could barely see any residual effects, and not even DW could notice anything.

Thanks ladies I appreciate it.
Despite everything my baby is as happy as ever and thats all that matters to me!

It just seems to be one thing after another after another... I feel bad for her.
