Couch to 5K Sneakers
I wuld like to get a new pair of sneakers to start couch to 5K. Any recommendations? Do I need to go to a running store? Or can I just buy a pair that feels comfortable?

Definitely go to a running store! Runner's Edge in Farmingdale is good, or if you're in the city try Jack Rabbit. It will make all the difference

I have been doing couch to 5K and Insanity and use these: Adidas
They're very comfortable. Just order a half size up.

Re: Couch to 5K Sneakers
I went to a running store where they determined what kind of arch I had and watched how I walked and then they recommended a bunch of sneakers. I only did this because I asked my brother who is a runner if I really needed to do it and he very emphatically said yes. He said he didn't do it at first and wound up with injuries because he wasn't wearing the right sneaker.
I wound up with a pair of Brooks, I don't remember the exact name. They were expensive though.

Re: Couch to 5K Sneakers
I would go to a running store and see what they say about your feet - do you NEED to? Not at all, but it might help. If your feet are pretty neutral, you can wear just about anything, but honestly, a good pair of sneakers makes SO much difference.
If you have any arch, or pronation issues or anything, it is pretty important to wear the right shoe.
Go to a running shop, see what they say, if you don't want to make the investment in a sneaker just yet, then you can just go somewhere else and find a shoe you like :)

I really like my gel asics. They are so comfortable, they don't rub against my little toe which is always a problem for me.

Both a great choice...
if you in Queens.. Quantum Runners has always been awesome! Tell them you found them on Yelp and they normally throw a 10% discount.

Re: Couch to 5K Sneakers
I would recommend going to a running store.
I wear Brooks. I would have never have picked them out myself in a store, but they made such a difference with my running.
