? about visit to check cervical length
I had my NT scan last week with the MFM group in LIJ's Katz women hospital and was told that i would need to go back at about 16 weeks to start checking my cervical length. My questions are; do they do a vaginal sono to determine the length or do they do an exam like a PAP? Also, if it is a sono will they also look at the babies?
DH didnt come with me to the NT scan so he didnt get to see them moving...i would like him to go to the next visit but if we wont see the babies i guess he can wait until the anatomy scan.

I did not go where you go. Mine was through north shore - at 16 weeeks they measured the babbies using an external ultrasound and measured cervix with internal
at each 4 week interval they measured the babies growth

All cervix checks that I got prior to the day my water broke were internal sonos

I go every 2 weeks zo it might be different. They measure the cervix with the internal then measure the babies with the external.

Most likely if you're specifically going for a cervical check it will be internal. They can check it with an external but it's more accurate when it's internal. My sono techs were all a little different with what they checked after the cervical check. One would also check the hearbeat, one wouldn't check anything else and the third actually gave me a 3D pic bc she said the baby was in a great position for it ( ). So it could be hit or miss as to whether your DH would be able to them or not.

Katz does internal fo cervical checks. They are awesome there! They will also do sonos and check the babies each time you go so you'll get tons of sono pics!!!!!!

I asked the Dr. to quickly check mine yesterday, and she did a quick internal and determined I'm more than fine. She did say that they usually do it around 16-20 weeks, but she honored my request.

So strange- my on said no internals till closer to the end. They check my cervical length on the ultrasound.
