Does anyone have experience with a torn bicep tendon?

My poor DH tore his bicep muscle and is going to need surgery. It's been a very long weekend because we found put on Friday after 11 hours in the ER and we haven't been able to see or speak to a doctor because of the holiday weekend. Has anyone had this surgery? We are concerned about how long the recovery seems to be. The Internet says 3-6 months and we're trying to figure out if it's really that long.

My dad just had it done a week and a half ago. He is surprisingly not in a lot of pain. He is in a sling for 6 weeks and then rehab on it.

How restricted is his movement right now? We were supposed to be leaving for Florida in 3 weeks, but I think we're going to have to cancel. Did they give him any idea of how long the rehab will be? When was he able to return to work?

The sling will not let him move at all. He said it's not so bad. He had his knee done at the same time and said if it wasn't for the knee he would be feeling better. He can drive and stuff. Just can't lift with that arm.

Rehab depends on the person but a few months I think.
