Re: bedtime readign and twins
I started reading at all sleep times as part of our routine at about 3 months. To make it work, I would either prop them on their boppy pillows or put them on the glider with me on the floor gently rocking the chair. I started with DS#1's favorites -- Brown Beat, Polar Bear, Hungry Caterpillar, basic color, shape, and animal books, and nursery rhymes. I was worried that they would not get the same reading experience as my older DS, but I made it work! Love our reading time :)

Re: bedtime readign and twins
I've been trying to read to them since they are only a couple of months old. When we began our "bedtime routine" at about 8 months old, we read before bed. Most times with my husband. Since he doesn't see them all day, he sometimes reads to them while I get a couple of things done and I join to tuck in. But usually us both. I read to them before naps during the day too. Now at 13 months, they have certain favorite books. They will crawl down the hall to read in their room by themselves throughout the day. But I also leave boks in the living room for them to go to also. There are certain books that if I stand in their room and announce the title, they will come! It's so cute to see them coming so eagerly! I am so glad they enjoy books as much as they do, it's really awesome.

Re: bedtime readign and twins
started reading to them around 1 yr for bedtime. (before that, my older DS required too much attention at bedtime so i just didn't have time.) Now they are 22 months. They each pick out one book and I read to both of them together on my lap. Sometimes it will be in their room on the glider, sometimes in the living room on the couch before we go upstairs. We read tons of book throughout the day as well. They love their books!

We read throughout the day....not at bedtime. It's just too hectic then. Either Dh or I will have both boys climb on our lap----the other person is usually w/ the baby or cleaing.

Re: bedtime readign and twins
I probably started nightime ready at 10 months...with that said we don't do it everynight. When my twins are tired they need to go to bed and can't tolerate sitting for a book, sometimes they want to go to bed at 6 so its just too hard to fit it in. We read alot during the day though...when we read at night they sit in my lap on the floor or I read to them while they sit in a crib together.

Re: bedtime readign and twins
i tried numerous times and it never worked until now and they are 2 years old, we all sit on my bed together and read 3 or 4 books and then they go to their cribs
i did read to them during the day before that but for some reason it never really worked at bedtime
eta if dh is home he sits with us also, he likes to help get them to bed
