Kindergartener watching grown up programming??
I should preface this by saying I'm a very "to each his own" kind of person. I tend to be the devil's advocate, and non-judgemental. However. DD (she's 6, in kindergarten) had a playdate yesterday at our house, with two girls from her class. The girls were drawing and talking about who they have "crushes" on. It was very cute and innocent. Then, one of the girls says, "And I LOVE Eric Northman from True Blood! He's so cute!" And proceeds to start to relate an entire plot line concerning the charater... I cut her off and changed the subject.
When mom came to pick up, I kind of jokingly said, "Oh, your daughter said she had a crush on Eric from True Blood!" And she said, "He's so hot, who doesn't??"
I'm not easily appalled, but I was appalled here. I've noticed a lot of DD's friends talk about TV shows and video games that, IMO, DD is WAY too young for. I've always assumed that maybe they are just relating what they've caught from older brothers and sisters, or parents, and are talking about it to seem cool. But this little girl CLEARLY watches the show on the regular! Leading me to wonder if the other kids are actually watching this stuff too!
Just had to share.... People are crazy.

If a mom is letting the kindergartner watch that show, she's nuts.
I could see a dd overhearing her mom talk about Eric Northman & explaining a plot along the lines of Sookie love Bill the vampire, etc. but watch...noooo way!

Re: Kindergartener watching grown up programming??
It was probably my niece
I swear, my SIL is crazy at times, My niece is in K as well and she watched the Twillight Saga many times, even the last one which I felt was NOT appropriate.
IDK, to each their own I guess? But would NOT fly in my house!

To each their own until they start describing the sex scenes in True Blood Forget the kids, I wouldn't watch that with my mom in the room!

Re: Kindergartener watching grown up programming??
I don't watch True Blood so I'm not sure how adult it is. I wouldn't ever let the kids watch anything with sexual content.
I do see a lot of kids who are like mini adults. My babysitter watches a mutual friends children sometimes. She caught the little boy (4) looking at naked women on his dad's ipad. He told her they made his pee pee go. IDK, I can't even imagine that. Thank goodness my boy is still naive.

true blood is hard for me to watch sometimes!
I did have a boy tell me about watching 127 hours on his dad's ipad. at first i was but then i thought it had a semi nat geo aspect to it. and perhaps the boy only watched 20 min and he views that as the movie kwim?
