wanted to share pics of my homemade pizza!

We were able to use the pizza dough last night and made two pizzas - a potato pizza and a "pepperoni" pizza (in quotes because we used soy pepperoni). I assembled the pizzas on parchment paper and then baked them in the oven on our pizza stones.

I used an herb crust for the potato pizza, and topped it with a little tomato sauce, mozzarella, romano cheese, roasted garlic, yukon gold potatoes, rosemary, olive oil, and the teeniest drizzle of half and half imaginable.

I used a plain crust for the pepperoni, and topped it with tomato sauce, sliced tomato, mozzarella cheese, onions, and soy pepperoni. This pizza was baked on the larger stone so it was bigger and thus the crust was thinner, and also it was on the bottom rack, so the crust came out PERFECT.

Both came out great if I do say so myself.

they came out really excellent. i was very proud of myself! i think having a pizza stone is key. you should put it in there while the oven is preheating so it comes to temp with the rest of the oven, and wait a good 10 minutes after the oven says it is at temp before putting in the pizza

Those look and sound delicious! How long did you cook the pizza and at what temp?

Did you make the dough or buy it pre-made?

ETA: Did you use the pizza stone from Pampered Chef?

I heated my oven to either 500 or 550, I can't remember right now. I used the dough from trader joes. My husband made pizza once before with homemade dough and he said he liked the TJs dough better because it was less yeasty. I have two pizza stones - one is from BBB (I think Oneida brand) and the other was a gift but not pampered chef.

we have a stone as well, i think we got it at target a while ago.

We heat it at 500 degrees for 1/2 hr. Then we bake up the crust for a few mins popping the bubbles as it cooks, then take it out and add toppings. Pop back in until cheese is melted and hot. We also put the dough on parchment paper and bake on there. Makes it easy to take in and out of oven.

This is dough I make:
Pizza Dough From Cooks Illustrated:

2-2 1/4 cups unbleached all purpose flour
1 teaspoon instant or rapid rise yeast
1/2 teaspoon
3/4 warm water (110 degrees)
vegetable spray

Pulse 2 cups flour, yeast, and salt together in a food processor (i use my kitchen aid mixed with hook) to combine. With it running, pour the water through the feed tube and process until a rough dough forms, 30-40 seconds. Let the dough rest for 2 mins, then process for 30 seconds longer. If after 30 seconds the dough is sticky and clings to the blade, add the remaining 1/4 cup of flour, 1 tablespoon at a time, as needed.

Turn the dough out onto a lightly floured counter and from it into a smooth, round ball. Lightly coat a large bowl with spray and place the dough in the bowl. Lightly cover a sheet of plastic wrap with spray and cover bowl tightly. Let rise in a warm place until doubled in size, 1 -1 1/2 hours, before using.

Variation- substitute 1 cup whole wheat flour for 1 cup of the ap flour.

The dough can be made ahead of time. In step don't let the dough rise, but refrigerate it overnight or up to 16 hours, then let the dough sit at room temp for 30 mins before using.

We used the parchment paper trick too, but we don't par bake the crust or pop the bubbles. With a stone and the oven that hot you don't need to par bake, unless you are really piling on the toppings.

Looks good! I do homemade pizza dough all the time, my kids love garlic dough balls made from the same dough. I find it freezes really well also.

But the best bit is that I do it all in my kitchenaid mixer, just mix up the basic ingrediants with a fork and use the bread hook for the rest!
