Use sun protection. No, really, use sun protection!

As we approach the summer months the levels of UV radiation reaching the earth (and your face) increases. UVA from the sun reaching your skin will deplete levels of collagen leaving your skin thinner and more likely to wrinkle. UVB will damage the skin cells directly causing sun burn and dehydration. It will also cause hyper-pigmentation problems, especially for older women.

Women with fluctuating levels of oestrogen and progesterone due to pregnancy, HRT, menopause or birth control pills are also at greater risk of hyperpigmentation. Between March and November are the high-risk months for UV, even in places like the United Kingdom. Because of this you need to wear sun screen every day! I researched this thoroughly and it is backed-up by many medical institutions. One scary fact I picked up is that if you get sun burn once in two years you will triple your risk of skin cancer!

Make sure you re-apply sun screen every two hours.
