Skipping a period on purpose for an event
I'm on the pill and would like to skip my period for a big event coming up, but I have never done this before.
Is this going to cause me cramps/pains? or make my emotions haywire?
Just seeing if it is worth it or not, TIA

Yes, yes and yes. You may also have light spotting and have that premenstrual blot for the entire 3 weeks. Sorry!

honestly matters the pill you are on. if it is a variable pill it is best to take 2 packs -take double of each tyoe of pill
if it is the same level pill - i have had no problem skipping - i do it all the time as long as it is not the lo estrogen pill

I've done it numerous times. Never a cramp, mood swing, spotting, etc. I was on ortho tricyclin Low - if that helps :)

Re: Skipping a period on purpose for an event
I did it back when I got married. I did it a few months before so that if there was any issues it would work itself out by the time my wedding came. I didnt have any problems at all. But like a pp said, it could depend on which pill you're on.

Re: Skipping a period on purpose for an event
I did it many years ago before my wedding. My OB had me do it a few months before the event, so that each month, I took only a few of the placebos, making my period come sooner. Not a single issue, except it was planned and done over a few months.

I've done it two of three times and it was easy as pie. No issues at all. I just skipped all of the placebos and opened the new pack on Day 22.

Re: Skipping a period on purpose for an event
When I was on BCP - right after they came out with seasonique - I wanted them and my doc said I didn't need it. Just to do it with the pills i was on so I did.
I only got AF 4x a year. It was glorious!
There were times those 4x a year would threaten to wreck a vacation, so I'd adjust accordingly the month before or even just skip that one too!
When you're on BC, you're not actually getting a regular AF. It's just breakthrough.

Same here, no issues. I am on trinessa which is a generic of that, it's a 3 phase. You basically take two weeks worth of the third week (so it does waste some pills, you have to have extra).

It didn't do anything to me. I choose to get it earlier than to delay getting it. I changed my cycle a couple of months in advance.

Same here. Always do it. It's no different than taking Seasonale, according to my doc. She said all Seasonale is, is a marketing ploy where they sell 3 packs at once. I've been doing this for 15 years with Kariva, and get my period whenever.... usually every 3 mos or so. I get it right on time like clockwork, when I choose to. And I had no issues getting preg either. I cant imagine getting a period every month!
