Still happy with name
Who picked a baby name that was popular at the time and still happy / no regrets or sighing that there are 4 other kids in the class with the same name as yours? Or the name turned out to be not as popular as you thought it would be once they entered school? What is the name?

My 2nd DD's name is Abigail--which was/is(?) top-10. She just turned 5 and I've yet to meet another Abigail in either her or her older sister's classes--even in Mommy and Me stuff, etc.

I considered using the name Isabella for DD. In the end I decided against it for being too popular, but had we done it I would probably be upset.
We have a neighbor born exactly 1 year later with the name, one of her " best friends" is named Isabella, kids in classes that she takes... We can't go anywhere with kids ( carnival, white post, birthday party, etc) without meeting a little Isabella or hearing the name being called out by parents.

I have a Robert.. it's not terribly popular but I do know a few other Robbie's. I don't mind.. I know which one is mine and it suits him.
I also have a Noah - it wasn't super popular when he was born, but it got a good surge not to long afterwards. Again.. I love the name and it IS my kid so I have no problems at all with it.
I think 'popularity' means very little to me in the grand scheme. Too many people choose names that are 'different' just BECAUSE they are different... I guess I don't really understand that.

when I picked Amelia for my DD, it was my grandmothers name and something I knew I wanted from being a little girl myself.
Since she's been born, we've met quite a few. She has another Amelia in her class, she had an "emilia" in our daisy troop...she loves meeting other girls with the same name. I'm kind of indifferent about it.

DS#2 had a top 20 name, but it is an old name. I find more classmates that have one of the feminine forms of his name.
Like PP mentioned - it's my kid, so it's just him. We do use a nickname that is less common with the full name.

My dd has a top 10 name and I still love it. My son has a fairly unique name and I love it still too.

I went into my younger son's name knowing it was very popular. I still love it but he's 6 now and sort of tunes out unless I call him by first and last name, then he looks right away. He always writes his first name and last initial on everything even notes to family members. 3 out of 6 boys on his soccer team had the same name. Still I love the name and could not imagine any other name being "him. I think it's worse if you go into it not realizing it's so popular. Somewhat related to the topic, my older son has a less popular (but not unique or unusual) name. This year he became great friends with the only other boy in his grade with the same first name. Both his and our family have 2 syllable last names and our 2nd syllable is the same as theirs  Go figure. I can't have this kid over unless I use last names. So I call both my sons by first & last name.

It's funny that you've had this experience. I have an Amelia and we haven't met another yet.

DS's name is really popular, I love the name.
He has been in school since 2 and has yet to have another Ryan in his class or even his grade (going into 1st  )

My son's name is pretty popular and I never once regretted it. I like his name. He hasn't had others in his class or on any teams yet but I do hear the name alot otherwise....
