Who Has A Kid Entering Middle School???

How are you feeling about that? How are THEY feeling?

I feel a little maudlin about my first baby going off into the wild jungle of hormones that is Middle School. I think we all know it's not the easiest place in the world.. traditionally it's pretty rough on kids who now need to learn to acclimate to changing classes, dealing with popularity politics, dipping their toes into the real world of 'boys and girls' and trying to keep up academically.

Robbie - on the other hand - is EAGER to get there. It's an exciting adventure for him and he simply cannot WAIT. I really hope that excitement holds for the next 3 years!

I do and I am terrified. My son has Tourettes and Severe ADHD. He was in Boces last year and Im terrified of him going back to district

This will be DS's second year of middle school (he's going into 7th grade). I was SO scared last year, but he did AMAZING. He loves it so much more than his tiny elementary school. He gravitated towards kids that share his interests, got to take more interesting classes... he really enjoyed it.

DD will be going into 8th this year, but when she started 6th I was a nervous wreck!! She was not only starting middle school, but it was in a completely new district, we closed on a new house a month after school started, a week after that i had a baby 7 weeks early and a month after that we finally moved into our new house (I was bringing her to amd from school for the first two months)

She did AMAZING!!! She clicked right away with one girl and since they had the exact same schedule she introduced DD to kids she knew. All my worries were basically for nothing!!

Good luck to you DS in the fall, but I can assure you, he will survive!!!
