Montreal review
Montreal was a blast!!!
We stayed at the Hotel de la Montagne and on Thursday nights this place was rocking... they had a band in the lounge bar that was packed and then they have a rooftop bar/pool open to the public. They had a band up there too and it was also packed with people dancing and hanging out. Of course, I was with my very conservative mother so we just surveyed the situation...didn't actually hang out.
We went to the Old City (Vieux Montreal) and did a walking tour I got off of Frommers.com. We alos took a trolley ride on the old port which is really nice now. They have bicycle rentals, jet ski rentals, bands playing. It was a beautiful day so it was nice hanging out outside.
We also went to the Olympic Stadium and took the cable car up to the observatory which had great views. We also went to the biodome which I don't think was all that...the botanical gardens were much nicer and better worth the money.
We also walked around the underground city, which are like huge connected shopping malls underground.
We went to the casino and had dinner there one night. There isn't much to do at the casino except eat or gamble, but it is a nice building.
Most of the restaurants we ate in were on Crescent street which is the main street for nightlife (or it seems to be). There was a 3 block long strip of restaurants, bars, etc...We only ate in one place there called Pino's which was Italian food and was pretty good. That was our only fancy meal, everything else was a quick bite.
It takes a while to get used to the signs being in French and it definitely feels like you are more in Europe rather than North America.
I don't have pics yet, but when I do I'll post them!

Re: Montreal review
Thank you thank you thank you. Any good recommendations for low-key dining (breakfast, lunch and dinner)?

The only place I would really recommend is for breakfast was a place called Eggspectacular...it was really good breakfast place - lots of eggs, omelets, pancakes, etc and very reasonable. It was located at Rue de Maisonvienne (Sp?). and rue de la montagne (one block away from Crescent Street).
Also we never hiked to see the cross on Mont Royal overlooking the city which I'm kind of bummed about...
