Problem solved, thank you!

Update: We actually told our Mom & she said we should keep the original reservation and if he can't come then she's OK with that. We thought she would want to cancel if he couldn't come, but she said that's his problem & she doesn't want her whole birthday night cancelled.

Thank you ladies for the suggestions!

3 weeks ago my sister & I planned a party for my Mom at a restaurant in NYC and made the reservation. Our uncle (her brother) just cancelled his whole family because he just decided he can’t afford it. That information would have been helpful 3 weeks ago, now its 3 days before and we would like to try to find something cheaper to accommodate him & his family. It needs to be no more than $50 pp which includes drinks, tax & tip. I feel like there is nowhere in NYC we could find with good food for that cheap and its 16 people total which I feel there is no way we will be able to get a reservation for on this short notice but I figured it couldn’t hurt to ask.

Re: Inexpensive Restaurant in Manhattan for 16 people needed for Saturday… (I believe this is impossible, but figured I could ask)

My friends love this place for a large group at a cheap rate. I have no idea if they can accomidate you on short notice but its worth a shot :)

Carmine's does pre fix for large groups, with or without drinks. We had 20 people for my birthday. So much food. We ate atthe upper west side location. Also family style Italian and a little cheaper Tony's DiNapoli. Tony's prices are on line, you need to call Carmines.

If you are willing to try Queens then I think you may have more options. Astoria has so many family owned restaurants. I am sure you could get something there. Trattoria L'incontro is one of our faves. Astoria is so accessible from Manhattan so the trek is no biggie at all for those living in the city and are allergic to travel to outer boroughs.

Trattoria Dopo Teatro on 44th between 6th & Broadway. They have set price packages including liquor. The place is very pretty. I just took a look at their packages, they have one for $50 including liquor, beer, wine, soda.

Oops! Sorry, it does not include liquor. But their packages start at $30, so it may be feasible on your budget?

Thank you! I called & they had me email the manager so we'll see if there is anything. Worst case, we're just going to go without him.
