help! for those of you who bake your own cakes, do you line the cake pan with anything like parchment paper or wax paper?
I have never made a cake before & am attempting to make one right now
I only have wax paper at home? Will it burn?

Do not use waxed paper! Your recipe should tell you what to do. Sometimes I grease the pan, sometimes grease and flour, sometimes parchment paper.

I almost always line with parchment paper. I do this to make it easier and have never had a problem getting a cake out.

I use parchment paper and spray with Pam on top.

Most of the time I just use one of the baking sprays that contain flour, and I never have a problem getting the cake out. On occasion, or if the recipe specifically says to do so, I have lined the bottom with parchment. Parchment doesn't burn... I use it to line baking sheets all the time (but I woudn't use wax paper).
It helps to make sure the cake is cooled a bit... I put the pan on a cooling rack . . . before you try to unmold it. That way, it shrinks back a bit and won't break apart.

Same here. I never would have thought to line a cake pan with parchment paper. I've heard of that for cookies, which I tried once, and I didn't like the way they came out. I always use Pam and it works like a charm
