how much do you spend on back to school clothes?
I was chatting with a few friends the other day and we had very different thoughts on back to school shopping and how much you should or actually do spend on the kids, for clothes/ shoes.
My oldest in entering the JH next year so I know my budget will be going up a little, but i still make her go through her clothes and what still fits and looks decent she keeps, and we buy what is needed.

I buy staples like jeans, socks, underwear, and basic t-shirts when they are on sale at the end of the season the year before. I then supplement that with things I like and see just before school starts. Not including a winter coat or sneakers/boots/dress shoes, I spend about 250-300 per kid on clothing (14 pairs of pants and 14 shirts). Adding all the accessories it is about 400-500 per kid for fall/winter. I then get them a spring/summer wardrobe later in the year. ETA: I think I would spend much more on a girl entering Jr/Sr. high school than I currently do. My kids are almost 3 and 5 years old.

Less than $100 per year now. Including shoes. Uniforms rock (even if they are plaid!)
(I just had to buy them each a new gym shirt and a pair of sweats. My DD also got a new jumper, but probably won't need it, I just wanted it as a backup. Everything else is still wearable from last year).

I personally do not do a big school clothes shopping thing. It is not worth it in the beginning of the year IMO. I am not going to purchase shorts/short sleeved shirts when my kids have a ton from the summer (some hardly used since they spend a lot of time in bathing suits lol). They each get a new pair of sneakers and socks/underwear. I purchase more as the fall approaches.
