day trips - what do you do with your dog?
Do you board your dog for a day or leave him with a family member if you go on a day trip? to like CT or something?
What do you normally do?

We usually leave him with my in-laws. They have a dog and a huge yard so it works out well! That, or doggy daycare.

I have a dog sitter that stays at my house when I go away overnight. If I'm going to be away for the day for more than 8 hours I'll ask her to go once during that day to feed & walk the dog or have a family member do it if she's unavailable.

Leave with a family member....but we never use a kennel. Honestly we would take a LOT more trips if the dogs were not an issue...but it is what it is.

If we can we take him with us - he is a 8lb chihuahua. if not he goes to my parents - or they come over and let him out and feed him.
I would look into a pet sitter/walker if my parents didn't live so close

Leave him with parents or in laws... When we all had a function together, I had a friend stop over to let him out and feed him.

My sister goes over to my house to feed and walk them. She usually stays the night since she's just turned 18 and it's still a bit of a novelty to have her own place for a night.

If we are just out for the entire day but coming home at night a family member will come over to let him out and feed him. If we are staying overnight then he will stay with a family member.

For a day trip, my Mom or a friend will come to walk them, feed them and spend some time... If its an overnight, my Mom stays with them. My sister uses the doggie day care by her and her pup loves it!

Anything overnight, we put her in the kennel. But if it's just a long day trip, my inlaws live nearby so they come over and let her out.

We do this too for shorter day events - like this weekend we have a wedding an hour away and expect to be gone from 1:30-10:30, so the dog walker is coming to walk/feed/play instead of taking him to my ILs.

I have a dogwalker that comes. SHe plays with him and feeds and walks him. I have even left him overnight and she comes like 3x to check on him. I feel its better then boarding.

I bring him to my moms house or my sister will watch him for me, if it's something that they are going to be at also then I drop him off at doggy daycare

I usually just get my sister or niece to walk her. We're going away this week for a long weekend and I'm paying my niece to walk her 4 times a day and spend some time a the house to give her some love.

Achilles goes on a wee wee pad so we can leave him for a while and feel comfortable knowing he is safe, has food and water and can of course go to the bathroom. He roams freely too. The only downside is no company. If it's too long of a day we ask someone to stop in and check on him.

Our neighbor will stop in 3 or 4 times to let them out and check on them. We are going away for 10 days in Oct & a friend of mine will be staying at our house.
