How much did you spend on school supplies, if you had a list to go by?
DD is starting 3rd grade. Everything on her list came to $60. Is that the norm?

How much did you spend on school supplies, if you had a list to go by?
$17.00. Not including backpack and lunch box. I live to shop,the back to school sales, some got everything so cheap.

I go through PTA...$54 for the grade level list and we will probably have to spend $20 for the specific teacher list.

I pre-ordered her supplies through the PTA. It was ~$30. Not bad. I still have to get ziplock bags, tissues and wipes to send in. All in all, not too bad.

I spent about the same $15 and that included a lunch box. My kids will reuse their book bags from last year.

We buy the supplies through the PTA and it costs $30. That obviously doesnt include backpack and lunchbox.

About $15. We are using backpack and lunchbox from pre-k. Crayons, pencils, markers, etc. are all dirt cheap at the major chain stores right now!

Im in NYC so maybe we are required to buy more supplies. I spent about $60-70 per kid...plus each teacher asks for $10-$25 cash to go toward web site memberships and scholastic newsletters ect..

$181 total not including backpacks, tissues, ziplock bags or the 4 books we need to purchase.
2 kids. 1 starting second grade and 1 starting 4th.

3rd grade I ordered from PTA because it was a lot of things and I didn't want to have to chase it all down. It was $45.00. Very rarely do they ask for more supplies or money once school starts.
1st grade, the supply list from PTA was $40 (and I refused to spent that on such a small list). It was a few basic things, and I picked them up in Target and spent less than $15 for it all. A folder, some glue sticks, pencils, baby wipes, scissors, etc.
This is a good year for back to school. Their uniforms get another year, my dad bought them their new school shoes, and their back packs and lunch boxes are in excellent condition and will go another year.

I know when I first registered DD for Kindergarten the PTA was offering a pack for $60 or $65 but I missed the deadline back in April to order it! (why you have to order it months in advance I'll never understand). I have yet to buy any of this laundry list of supplies yet because a friend of mine told me the school orders these packs for purchase and their due to come in next week. Just to get an idea on price I plugged in the supplies on Amazon and it came out to over $100. I sure hope I can nab one of these packs otherwise I'll be on a scavenger hunt for this!

Same here. Been watching the sales like a crazy woman.
Also spent $20 on a Tangled backpack from Disney that I am hoping makes it through the whole year!
