Restaurant Rave! Uvarara in Middle Village, Queens
Last night DH took me to Uvarara in Middle Village for my birthday...I've passed by it so many times and have been dying to check it out. :) It was such a great rustic Italian experience! The food was delicious, the wine list impressive, the ambiance of the place was just so old-world and cute. They altered a dish for us because we're vegetarians (rather than just taking out the shrimp, they added a bunch of vegetables to DH's dish...lots of places don't do that). We ordered a savory zeppole, rigatoni with gorgonzola, pears and walnuts, and pappardelle with asparagus, zucchini and mushrooms.
At the end of the night, after dessert (wine-glazed roasted pear and gelato for me, panna cotta for him), they gave us a couple of little glasses of a fruity, bubbly dessert wine on the house since it was my birthday. We were there for two and a half hours, never felt rushed at all!

Where on Metro is this? I can't tell by the address.

Right by Metro and 80th...you know where the CVS is on the corner? By the cemetery? It's right by there.
