Is anyone a RD (Registered Dietician)
Can you tell me a little about your career and the educational requirements? I currently hold a BA in Liberal Arts and am looking into the Nutrition program at CW Post.

Re: Is anyone a RD (Registered Dietician)
I am. To become an RD you have to earn a bachelors in nutrition/dietetics. There are a lot of science classes. Usually 1-2 semesters of general biology and chemistry, organic chemistry, biochemistry, microbiology, anatomy/physiology. Nutrition courses usually include a mix of clinical, food science, food service. After you earn your bachelors, you apply for a dietetic internship which is at least 9 months 40hrs/week unpaid + coursework. You can do this through a college or food service company. Internship spots have become harder to get over the years. After you complete the internship you can then take the RD exam (national exam).
There are many areas you can work in such as clinical (hospital/long term care), private practice, out patient counseling, home care, food service, corporate wellness.....to name some.

Feel free to FM me if you have question!
