Can I use my food processor to grate apples?
I don't own a box grater, but I do have a food processor. I'm making an apple filling for a cake that you cook on the stove, and the recipe says to grate the apples. Do you think using the food processor will be okay for this?

Re: Can I use my food processor to grate apples?
Do you have the disc that grates? I know for my food processor, I have extra blades/disc for slicing and grating. So obviously the grating blade would work great, and it's faster/easier/less elbow grease than the box grater.
If you are talking about using the regular chopping/s-shaped blade that you always use, that won't grate it, but will chop the apples fine. If you are making some sort of a jam/compote filling, I think it would work ok. It may be chunker than if you grated the apples, but I would still try it.

My processor just has chop and grind settings. But actually, my customer decided she wanted strawberry filling instead, so it doesn't matter anymore. Thanks for your help though!
