Comic Con: Has anyone brought their kids there?
Let me preface this by saying I am not a comic book kind of person. I would go to people watch but outside of that I have absolutely no interest in this..
EXCEPT...
I have interest in having little adventures with my kids...which means I'm debating going.
Has anyone gone?

I haven't gone but I know people who've done both NYC & San Diego. I'm assuming you mean NYC.
They've all said it was fun and someone has been encouraging DH to take DS this year.
San Diego is completely different, I hear it can be overwhelming and there are a lot more sexual costumes.

My sister has been taking my niece every year for the past few years, but she's older. If I had to guess she started taking her when she was around 10.

I had been seriously thinking about taking my DS who is 11. He's seriously hooked on the Walking Dead (I know, I know. My dad started watching it with him and bought him the first few comics of it. I figured the damage is already done, so now I read them ahead of him.) however, we just found out its the weekend of his Sea Cadet orientation, so we won't be able to bring him. I did have every intention of it though. Your DS is 10, right? I think that's ok.

I called my BIL who has been to both the one in NY and the one in SD. He said the one in NY should be fine. Basically it is a lot of different booths with TV/Movie/Internet/Video Game famous people. You can stand in line to get autographs and meet them. Many people dress up like their favorite game personality. Most make their own costumes. There are also contests for the people who make their own costumes. If you get the G4 network, they have aired comic con on their show. I would look on their website to see what it is. After that you can buy a lot of merchandise. It is not the run of the mill kind of stuff - more things for the collector. My BIL said there are a lot of people in their 20s/30s there. The prices of the collectibles are $$$. There are also exclusive things (merchandise) where you need to get a bracelet to get on line to buy something.
