Does the bottom of your sternum stick out?
If you suck in your stomach like to hold your breath, and you feel where your sternum ends (where your ribs meet your sternum at the bottom), do you feel anything sticking out at the base of your sternum? I am curious how many people have a xiphoid process that sticks out (That's the end of the sternum). I just slightly injured myself there before and now notice the bottom sticks out a bit and not sure if that was always like that or if somehow could have broken or injured it?

Yes, it sticks out. Not everyones does though. And mine is always sensitive to the touch. It's weird

I leaned on it by accident last night....and I felt a pain. Mine is always very sensitive too...but I never put that much pressure on it. So then I could not recall if it stuck out the way it is now (b/c I keep paying attention to it now that is). So I was worried I could have fractured it or displaced it when the pressure was on it.
So yours sticks out too?

It doesn't stick out to the point where if I took my shirt off you'd see a big lump sticking out. But if you feel it, it sticks out and nobody elses does. And if I touch it too many times, it starts to hurt.

I have had patients who have basically simple masses on their xyphoid process, I have seen it in men for the most part that have had a recent weight loss.

No but I have observed it on some people.
PS: Like at the beach. I don't see a lot of people naked or anything!

Thankfully the pain went away after about 3 weeks. Not sure what it was.
