Best way to store strawberries?
Lately whenever i buy strawberries, if i don't take them out of the container right away they start getting moldy.
After i wash them what is the best way to keep them fresh..should they be in a covered container???

Best way to store strawberries?
I was told to wash them then put some white vinegar and water in a bowl and let them sit for 5 mins then put back in container. As u eat them, rinse them from the solution. Worked great.

I don't think you should wash them until you are ready to eat them. Once they get wet, they will get moldy.
I just keep mine in the original container in the fridge, taking out what I need and washing those berries then before serving/eating. They stay for quite awhile.
I actually don't pre-wash or prep any fruits or veggies (unless cutting up something large, like a melon or pineapple) until I am ready to eat it, and I find my produce lasts much longer that way!

I do this too and I never have any mold unless it has been over a week since I bought them and in those cases I probably wouldn't eat them anyway....a week in my frig is as long as I keep things.

I find the opposite, when i get home from the grocery store i take them out of the container, cut off stems and slice in half. Put back in a tupperware and they last so much longer for me.

I line a glass pyres container with paper towel and put the berries inside. I remove all the moldy ones and just place them very loosely inside so they aren't all piled on top of each other. I put more paper towel on top of them and then put the top klon. The towel helps w the moisture so they don' t get moldy for a very long time.

I totally recommend the Tupperware Fridgesmart. It has a setting for every produce product you can buy. My stuff easily lasts 2x as long when I put it in these containers. They have a venting system so the food gets the right amount of air based on what it is, and it has ridges in the bottom so any moisture that forms will drip to the bottom so your produce isn't sitting in it, which is what leads them to go bad faster. Strawberries and grapes last almost 2 weeks in these containers, lettuce and broccoli last forever! Best purchase I've made from Tupperware!
ETA: always store them "dirty"...don't wash til ready to use.

i find they go bad so fast too.
i tried the vinegar/water wash with both strawberries and blueberries and they lasted so long. the strawberries lasted close to 2 weeks and the blueberries longer.

I also recently started doing the vinegar/water wash and they have been lasting SO much longer than before. Totally works
