Job Interview when pregnant**Post Interview Update Below**
I am 36 wks pregnant and have a job interview next week.
I have to fax over my resume prior and plan on calling to confirm it was received, do you think it's okay to ask them at that time when their projected start date is?
I am scheduled to have a c/section on 10/16.
I'm just scared that they will automatically count me out b/c I'm preganant. I currently work f/t and this is for a f/t position (Civil Service)

Re: Job Interview when pregnant
Yes you can ask that should be no problem. They are not legally allowed to pass you over just because you are pregnant unless the job has physical restrictions that you would not be able to perform. I am assuming you would be home with the baby for a minimum of 6-8 weeks so that's the only thing that would stand out in my mind as an interviewer - if I needed you to start within 3 weeks lets say.

Thanks for replying.
I called today (after faxing resume) and asked if there was a projected start date - she said "As soon as possible"
I'm still going to go on the interview and just see how it goes.

Re: Job Interview when pregnant
Thank you all for the responses.
Interview was yesterday - I was seated in the room prior to the interviewers entering (tho i am sure the person who brought me in may have mentioned my belly )
I am scheduled for a c/s 3 wks from yesterday. They are interviewign this week, narrowing it down and next week will request references. From there they will make a decision but then need to present it to the board and I was clearly told "The candidate we select wouldn't give any ntoice to their curent job until the board accepted them"
Then the accepted candidate would need to be fingerprinted and have a background check done.
I did tell them I would need to give at least 2 week notice to my current job.
IF I am chosen, I feel confident that I'd have the baby by the time I would start.
I'll keep you all psoted.

Good luck! I find it odd that they wouldn't have an employee give notice.
