Gymboree?

I need to get my girls out of the house more. They are 16 months and act more like monkeys than babies! They climb EVERYTHING. They have no fear of anything and are non stop climbing. I can't take them to the park alone, they run off in different directions and the play equipment is usually for older kids.

So I am thinking about gymboree but how does it work with twins? Do you have to be in the play area with them or do the classes have people to do it. I really just want to sit and drink a cup of coffee. I don't want to chase after them the whole time.

The closest one to me is plainview. Anyone know how the staff is there and if it's even worth the money? Or if not gymboree is there another safe, controlled place where they can just go off and play on age appropriate equipment?

Sounds like you need a mommy's helper.
I believe you will have to go after them but may be wrong. You can do a free class though.

I just took a free Play & Learn class at Gymboree with my almost one year old twins, they absolutely loved it. The good thing about Gymboree is that the second twin is half price, which is great for us. Before I took the class I said there was no way it was worth the money, but now after I took the class it's well worth it. We will be using some of their first birthday money towards a 12 week course. You have to participate with your twins in each class. I'm not sure if they have any classes that you don't.

I would recommend that you take a free class first to see if your twins like it.

I have been taking my triplets to gymboree since they were 5 months old. I always go by myself. You have to sit in and participate in the class as well. They do not watch the kids for you. There is only 1 teacher that runs the class. We really enjoy it. Its just one big room and everything is pretty much padded (so they cannot get too hurt). My triplets are now 15 months and really enjoy it. But i think to make it worth the money you have to go to the class you sign up for as well as utilize the open plays. During open play you can just bring them in and they can climb around all the equipment. There is no teacher watching them so you have to be in with them. Hope this helps. They offer seperation classes when you could leave them for a short while...but not until 2.5. So there is still a bit of time for that.

Gymboree?

I called gymboree the other day and they said that it has to be one parent per baby and you are supposed to be within "hugs" reach. My husband works 16 hours a day 5-6 days a week so I'm pretty much alone all the time. When he is around we try to take them to different playgrounds. Once it gets too cold out that's not going to work though.

I only have help a few hours on fridays when my mom comes over and thats when I do all my chores and shopping. Even if gymboree would let me do it by myself my girls never go in the same direction and wouldn't stay by me. They went to a birthday party at oceanside gymboree a few weeks ago, that was how I got the idea to look into classes. I don't know if that is the same as the free class but they had a blast but they were all over the place and drunk with freedom.

I had my niece coming over as a mothers helper but now that she is back in school and she does cheer, gymnastics and dance she is never around. :o( Adding in the cost of the courses plus the helpers fee would be a pretty big expense for a 45 minute class once a week. I think I might just invest in some soft gym equipment for our family room and some outdoor playhouses for the yard.

I have been going to gymboree with my twins since 5 months old. They love it and so do I. You def have to shadow them. or they can/will get hurt. I would just show up and do a trial and see how you like it.

We also do a music class there, and I think this would be easier for someone who is a little nervous about having two at a time.

I would do trials at a few places and see what fits you better.

IMO you do not need a mothers helper for gymboree.

I just joined Gymboree in Oceanside and they said that I could either attend the class alone with my twins or bring someone. It's up to what you feel comfortable with. It's not mandatory that you bring another parent/sitter. You don't have to worry too much if one goes one way and the other goes another it's in a secured area.
