Tae Kwon Do
I signed up for a trial class and, after its over, the class is $200/month per kid!! Look, I really like the class, but I am floored at the monthly rate (lump sum yearly rate is $1,800 or $150/month).
For those who have their kids in karate, is it really worth it?

Re: Tae Kwon Do
We have Teddy (4) in Karate and we pay 160 a month. Eh...depends on the kid. Once our 6 months is up, he will be leaving it to do soccer or something else. It's too big a commitment for a 4 year old for us.

Re: Tae Kwon Do
A mom I met at our local pool said that it was 2500 for the year in NJ. Just for perspective, swim class is about 1200 for a year's worth of classes. Gymnastics is about 900 for a years worth of classes. If you think your kid will enjoy it, and you have the money/desire to go then it can be wonderful. I think that it is really expensive compared with other classes.

Re: Tae Kwon Do
$139/month for 2x/week
I'm always on the fence each time we have to re-do the contract but DD loves it.

Re: Tae Kwon Do
are these prices for 1 hour a week?
Gynmastics is $88 per month for one class a week and that seems steep to me but my son loves it. And like someone else said, we have different activities picked for Spring so he may not be in for the full year. He will stay if he continues to love it so much.
Over $100 a month for a weekly class is a lot and I would expect very professional instruction.
I do like the fact that these classes are not parent run the way that most team sports are. We happened to get great soccer coaches but some people were not as lucky.

We go to Ward's ATA on Smithtown Boulevard in Ronkonkoma, it is diagonally across from Little Vincents Pizza.

Re: Tae Kwon Do
That seems really high to me, my boys go to shaolin and if you go month to month no contract it is 110 or 120, but if you do 3 or 6 month the price goes down to about 90 a month. They can go 2x a week
They go to Shaolin in Bayport but they have one in East Islip and other locations.

I'm just starting this with DS we are paying $140 2x a week. We'll try it out for a few months and see.
I have gone to places where they were a lot cheaper per month ($100...) and I found there was a reason why so little. The amount of kids were huge at least 25, there was constant stopping to teach others how to move, when I say stopping I just mean continuing the same move over and over so they can go around the class to whoever needed more help. My son did not sweat a bit. The place I signed him up had about 10, the instructor was firm and kept the class moving. I felt my son got more out of it and boy he got a work out. My dh took him for another trial at another place and he said it didn't compare to the one we are going to. He said it felt like factory and a lot of the kids unfortuantely weren't into it and the instructors didn't bother to push them along. Way too many kids to teach.

Re: Tae Kwon Do
We pay 2400 for the year , 2 kids. The price goes up as they get older. It's expensive, but for now this is the only activity my LO is doing. My older one has soccer but that is almost over

Re: Tae Kwon Do
I pay $200 a month for 2 kids but that is unlimited classes a week, includes the uniform and all belts.
Once DS moves up it will be $169 for him and $90 for DD. Still unlimited.
