Nintendo DS
My almost 7 year old has been wanting one for a while and has been saving her money to help contribute to buy one. Im not sure which one to buy. Advise Please.
I have a $50 giftcard to HSN and they have a bundle with accessories and 1 game for $259. Is that a good price?
Thanks!

Re: Nintendo DS
There's the DSi, whic is the current basic model, then the DSi XL, which is the same gadget, but with a bigger screen. The 3DS is a DSi, but with a 3 dimensional screen (which can be turned off). The 3DS XL has a bigger screen.
At Walmart, a DSi bundle is under $130. A DSi XL bundle is around $150. A 3DS bundle is around $180, and a 3DS XL bundle is around $200

Re: Nintendo DS
my son has the 3DS and while he loves it, i would not get the 3D again (my MIL got it for him) I am not crazy about the 3D, it bothers my eyes - he says it doesn't bother him but i don't love it

Re: Nintendo DS
DS has the DSiXL. Numerous people told us to stay clear of the 3d but DS was only 4 when he got it. THey dont recommend the 3d for those under 6 I believe. THey have been said to cause eye strain and head aches. With that alot of games have been released in 3d but not regular.
Anyway, we got our DSiXL (love the big screen) for about $170 in a bundle which included 1 game.

DS has a 3DS that he bought (he's 9), and I bought my own DS so I don't have to share with him... and so we can play 2 player games. I personally love the 3D aspect of it, and it doesn't bother my eyes in the slightest, even for relatively long periods of time.

Re: Nintendo DS
We got my DD the DS Lite. She is only 6 and I wasn't going to spend a lot of money on it. It may be older, but she rarely plays it and it is fine.

Re: Nintendo DS
DS has the 3DS and loves it. I did turn off the 3D function (I turn it back on when I play ) because the games all say that under 6 years old, the 3D isnt good for their eyes.

Re: Nintendo DS
My kids have the DSXL and 3DS. I would go for the 3DS, b/c a lot of the new games coming out are only for the 3DS (which can play regular DS games, but not vice versa)
My kids turn the 3d off...they prefer it without.
