The forecasts are calling for very little rain, and relatively moderate winds (under 30mph, with gusts to 47). I'm not really worried about that, at least in my area.

Definitely not keeping DD home. She has had enough disruption this past week or so.
The last I read on yahoo the storm had weakened significantly and was just rain and wind now.

Just got a call Smithtown is closed tomorrow (we were also closed Monday and Tuesday). I now curse everytime Smithtown Central School District comes up on my caller ID...........

Tomorrow's supposed to be the first day back but we've been evacuated again due to the predicted 5ft storm surge. I'm assuming that since the school is in the evacuation zone they can't open.

School is open and DD is going. 7 days out of school is enough. If I see it getting really bad out, I'll pick her up early.

I am nervous honestly. We live about 3 blocks from DD's school. Her school and the middle school are both still dark. The district opened today except for my DD's echool and the middle school. Tomorrow they decided to keep the middle school closed but my DD's school was split up and divided and sent to the two 2-5th grade buildings. My DD is being sent to the one all the way across town and her day was extended by about 20 mins. The high wind warning starts at 2 and she won't get out until about 1.5 hrs later. Those who normally get buses will be taken to the new location but DD is a walker so I have to get her there and back.

When I went to Smithtown, they took FOREVER to call it! They were always the last one to decide. I can't believe how much they are closed now!

I sent DS. In normal situations, If this was a singular storm, not one coming a week after a hurrican, I wouldn't have thought twice about him going. So i sent him it. I doubt ds's school will close early, but if they do I will just go get him. Its time for him to get back into the swing of things IMO

We live in Monmouth county NJ and our particular school district was suppose to go back to school today. They ended up closing it the rest of week and are supposed to go back the 12th now. They said they were worried of more power outages since there are still sections down and teachers couldn't get to school.

Trust me, Commack never closes early. The roof would have to blow off first!

I live north of the city and we have a 2 hour delay. We weren't hit as hard by the hurricane and we had a freak snow last October so the highway department's used to this sort of thing.
