Re: please read
Not that I would EVER leave my pet with them (even in the direst of circumstances), I had NO idea they were closed. That's insane, especially the one in the Bronx. And then you see places like Four Paws Sake and NSAL and Bobbi and the Strays stepping up and taking in more and more pets and struggling to find ways to take care of them. Thank you for sharing!

Re: please read
it is terrible! not only does the bronx and queens not have actual shelters (they are supposed to by the way) they ship all their dogs to the manhattan and staten island/brooklyn shelters--in turn making them crowded and resulting in the killing of dogs and cats because they have no room!! It they had those 2 other shelters--maybe more dogs and cats would be alive!!
AND to top it off--they held off killing animals this week (so they say) due to the storm-but now they are back at it---and this is not really giving pet owners enough time to find their animals after these 2 storms!! someone's beloved pet could be killed while they are looking for them---the city shelters are HIGH kill and they stink---spread the word about them--things need to change!!!
btw, thanks for reading!!LOL!
just wanted to add--you can write to senator kearns if you want to help make change! :) he wants to!

I will definitely do just that, I forwarded the article along to a few other people so I'll urge them to write as well!
