Cholestrol - what was your #
If you were put on meds - what was your cholestrol? I am 225 and think they are going to want me on meds....
The weird thing is that 3 months ago it was 208, and then I started taking fish oil omega for pre-diabetic diagnosis and in 90 the cholestrol shot up to 225, and there is alot of cholestrol in those pills

My cholesterol was 206 and was put on meds. I was previously on meds but the prescription ran out and I neglected to refill it, partly because of the cost of Lipitor. It's now available generically.

My friend had the same problem. She stopped the fish oil and went on something else. It is way lower now. Sometimes the fish oil does the opposite.

I don't believe going on meds at just 225. It's only 25 points above the limit.
I have never heard of fish oil doing the opposite of what it's supposed to.
I'd try lifestyle changes for 3 months and ask them to recheck. ADd oatmeal, fish, cut out red meat, cheese, etc.
I always try to go the natural way FIRST and if it still isn't changing, it can be genetics in which case medication is the only answer.

Thank you everyone, I totally cut out cheese and I am a vegetarian, so no red meat for me, the only thing I changed was this oil pill - it is the first 3 months I have ever taken it,...weird

Does it run in your family? Mine is high and we went over my diet after I kept a journal for a month. They believe my family genetics are playing a role as my parents and all my grandparents have high cholesterol. They said with my diet I should be fine, but i'm not. They retested it again to make sure and it was the same. I am on Lovaza since it should also help my joints.
