How my wonderful Gabriel entered the world
I was due on October 15. But I had been having such horrible BH that I was calling out of work for weeks before that. Then finally on September 25, I decided that I was done and put in my paperwork for maternity leave so my last day of work was going to be September 27. I spent the day of the 26th cleaning up my office, finishing up some last minute things I had to do for some patients and finally said good bye to my coworkers.
I spent the day of the 28th shopping and picking up some stuff for ds. Nesting was in full mode so I running around the house like a mad woman fixing and cleaning things that were already fixed and cleaned. It was around 5:30pm I had recently taken up crotchet, so I laid in bed and and continued to crotchet a hat I was making for ds. I was having horrible BH and around 7pm I realized that they were coming pretty consistantly, so I started to time them. At first they were coming every 10 minutes, then within a half hour they were coming every 7-8 minutes and were even more painful then before, so I decided to call Dr. Vullo and Sampino's emergency line. Dr. Vullo called me back with 2 minutes and by that time I was hysterical crying from the pain, he told me to go straight to the hospital. I called my sister and her, my dh, and I went to Good Samaritan. When I got there I went into intake and dh and my sister kept telling jokes and taking horribly embarrasing pictures of me because they did not think I was really in labor, because it was 2 and a half weeks before my due date.
The nurse gave me a gown to put on and wanted a urine sample, as I wiped my mucus plug came out and I panicked even more when I realized that maybe I really was in Labor. I Dr. Vullo checked and said that I was 3cm dialated I immediately asked for some pain meds (which were a lifesaver) within 30 minutes of arriving at the hospital the contractions were 2-3 minutes apart, the Dr. checked me again and said that I had progressed to 5cm and that it would probably be a few hours before the baby was born, so he said to get some rest. I didn't think I had fallen asleep but the next thing I knew it was the next morning.
The Dr. had continuosly monitored me and by this time, Dr. Sampino came in and said that I was not progressing past 5cm and that the baby was too big to fit through my pelvis and would need a csection. I IMMEDIATELY started to cry, I did not want a csection and the thought of it scared me so bad, but having dh, my mom and my sister there made me feel much better. They gave me some meds and prepped me for surgery. The anestesiologist came in gave me some of his wonderful medicine and next thing I knew I was being wheeled away. When I got to the delivery room (already drugged up) the nurse told me to get up and move over to the bed where they would be doing the csection, the only thing I remember is me saying "no, i can't" (I could not feel my legs) and her arguing with me that I had to, I vaguely remember them having to pick me up with the sheet and moving me over themselves. As per my dh I slept and snored through the entire Csection and when I woke up, I started freaking out screaming where is my baby, I have not seen my baby. ( he said that he held ds right up to me the minute he was born and I fell alseep again. )

I have sleep apnea and apparently, something happened during the surgery and I had to be transferred to the cardiac unit after I had ds so that my respiratory could be monitored. I got to be with ds the next day and the pain was more then I could bare, I had horrible distention and the pain meds did nothing to help my pain. I could not stop throwing up and by the next day I had dh I could not eat I didn't and couldn't eat for 4 days straight even after the Dr. ordered a clear diet. (Everything smelled like iron and blood, I have no idea why) They did an xray and it turns out I had an ileus. The Dr. ordered that I walk alot to help with the distention but everytime I tried to walk I felt faint, and the pain was so bad that I cried like a baby as dh and I walked up and down the hospital hallways. I wanted to go home so bad, but because of my ileus, vomiting and inability to poop, the Dr. could not discharge me so I had to spend an extra day in the hospital. On day 5 I felt much better, the distention started to go down, and I had finally pooped. Dh and I were finally discharged and were able to take our wonderful Gabriel home.
