Bethpage State Park

Where do you park when you start your run at bethpage state park path. Everytime i go i am totally confused. can you park in front of the houses and walk over? is there a lt i am mssing? i
want to start it at Bethpage state park and run 3.5 miles and then run back. I have my 6 mile run tomorrow. Any suggestions??

I have not run there consistently lately, but when I was running there often, we used to park by the 3.5 mile marker. From there, we'd run to Sunrise Hwy (zero mile marker) and back, 7 miles round trip. Then after returning to the 3.5 mile marker, I'd go up to the picnic area at Bethpage and back (6.5 mile marker), 6 miles round trip. This was about 6 years ago. The past 2 years, I'd just park at the train station in Massapequa on Sunrise Hwy enter at the zero mile marker and go as far as I needed to to get my mileage and turn around. I did hear that they extended the bike path beyond the picnic area, but I have not been lately.

If you do decide to park near the 3.5 mile marker, I can tell you how to get there from the Southern State - take it to Bethpage Pkwy north, get off at first exit (Boundary Ave). When you get to stop sign, you just park on that street right there and enter bike path. I did hear that the people who lived there were complaining at one point, but not sure. And I don't know about parking in or near the actual park. Hope that helps a little.
