Beyond Gross NYC DOE a vent
So, this year my school got a " teacher" that is an ATR. She is 85 years old, and can barely see. They put her in my office. This woman sits in the office from 8 to 4 all day and does absolutely nothing. She cant use a computer, and she sits and hums aloud All. Day. Long. She has a strong odor to her...like a homeless person. In fact, one teacher called our AP because she thought a homeless wpman was roaming the school.
About 2 weeks ago, I started noticing roaches in the office. Never had them before in the last 3 years since I got this office.
I had my suspicions they were from her and then today I watched as one crawled out of her purse!!! I told my principal and he said he would take care of it.....
I want to throw up, and I cant work in there...
Ughhhhhhhhhhhh.

My school is crawling with roaches. Its so nasty. I also have asthma that is triggered by roach dust, so I can't breathe when the heat is on. My DH always says we should get hazzard pay!

Ewww. My old school was infested too- so gross. Mice and these ginormous bugs. I don't miss it at all.
People like her give ATRs a bad name.

I feel bad that you have to deal with that, it's just gross! There's no excuse for being that filthy. Something needs to be done, I hope your admin follows though.

I so understand. My school is infested with mice and roaches. And towards the end of the school year it just gets worse to where the mice come out during the day and don't care. That's how you know it's an infestation when you see them out in the classroom during the day time.
