Yes. In fact I've heard that it's easier to slip into depression while pregnant. Your body's going through so many changes and it's loaded with tons of hormones. I went through a stage where I was a bit depressed myself. If you do feel depressed, it's important to discuss it with your doctor or it can get even worse post partum.

I sometimes did. I had highs and lows especially midway.
Part of my problem was living far away from family.

I would get somewhat bummed that other people brought family to ultrasounds, or had best friends to go out shopping with and mom's and I worried more about there health and stuff like that.

It's just such a stressfull, exciting and anxious time and sometimes your emotions might go low and sometimes they will be peaking.

The good thing is I went through that during my pregnancy and well haven't had anything since meeting my little man in person Chat Icon

Re: is it possible to suffer depression while PG?

I had a ton of highs and lows throughout my PG. In the beginning I just didn't feel like myself. I was gaining weight like crazy and my hormones were SOOOO out of whack I would be happy one minute and screaming and crying the next. I had this the whole time. A lot of it has to do with the fact that this PG has had a ton of ups and downs medically so that doesn't help. Also I feel so out of control because we are in the process of moving and I have not been working or able to do anything but rest. I feel guilty leaving all of it to my DH to take care of and that doesn't help either. When I have a day that I feel really down I lay down and talk to Kaylee about how excited I am to meet her and how happy I am to have her around. Being PG is a hormonal mess but in the end you have this wonderful baby to cuddle up with and love. Totally agree w/everything stated above. Definitely speak w/your doctor now...they might be able to share some local resources w/you, to help work through this now and develop a plan of action for you, once the baby is born. There is no shame in asking for help and no shame in suffering from PPD. You can work through this and you will be okay!Chat Icon

Re: is it possible to suffer depression while PG?

thanks everyone. The other night I got so worried because I started to think that I'm not ready to have this baby and that I didn't want it....GEEZ. It's hard enough working, taking care of the house, 2 dogs....and now a child!!

I have had depressive moments before PG and I'll talk to my DR the next time I'm in there.
