We got a packet in the mail yesterday to register DS for kindergarten this fall, and they have him listed as being in Pre-K already.
This is NOT the case. He goes to a private nursery school and just turned 4 on 12/30.
We in no way think he is ready for kindergarten yet.
I called the school this morning and said that I think I received this in error, and that I want to ensure he is going to be receiving the packet to register for Pre-K because at our CPSE meeting in December, we were told that it is a process and one location is better than the other, and people often show up before sunrise to wait on line to get their DC into the one location.
Well, I was just told by 2 people (sounded like secretaries) that it is up to CPSE to decide now if he can go into Pre-K.
I am really frustrated.
Given his struggles, we feel he needs that extra year, and that he also should be enrolled in Pre-K through the district.
They took my # down but said the Director is in meetings and they don't know when she will get back to me.
I just don't want him to get lost in the shuffle.
I am probably upset over nothing but I really wish people who knew what they were talking about worked for the school.
When is your SD's Kindergarten cut off date ( usually 12/1 or 12/31)? If it's 12/1 I wouldn't worry about it, it's obviously an error. If it is 12/31 you would need to discuss your concerns with the CPSE.
The Director of CPSE called me back and said not to worry at all.
Their cut-off for K is 12/1 so I should have never received that letter.
She also said that packets for Pre-K registration do not go out until at least March for April registration, and she has his packet on her desk because he is up for another meeting to discuss services.
It's so frustrating having people on the other end of the phone giving you wrong information.
It's like the secretaries in the doctor's office who think they have an MD and license behind their name.
