If you live in Queens and you were denied Social Security Disability (SSD) or Supplemental Security Income (SSI)
If you live in Queens and you were denied Social Security Disability (SSD) or Supplemental Security Income (SSI), you may have relief under the terms of settlement of a class action. Please feel free to contact my office if you would like help to determine whether you are a class member. You may eventually receive a notice informing you that you are a class member but those notices have not been mailed yet.
The case name is Padro v. Astrue. It involves people who were denied benefits after January 1, 2008 after hearings in front of any one of the following Administrative Law Judges from Queens:
David Nisnewitz Michael Cofresi Seymour Fier Marilyn Hoppenfeld Hazel Strauss
You may be entitled to a new hearing in front of a different Administrative Law Judge. It does not matter whether you were represented in the case. When the class action notices go out, you will have 60 days to act. If you are not sure who your Judge was, we can make an inquiry to find out. There are approximately 4,000 class members.
