Teachers Without a Contract and Recently Settled Contracts
We are in our second year without a contract which means that APPR does not yet apply to us. We are going throughout the motions in case we settle, but I'm wondering what are contracts settling for? Are raises a thing of the past?

Re: Teachers Without a Contract and Recently Settled Contracts
At my old school, we got a 1% raise for the first year of the contract and then a 0% raise for the second year of the contract.
At my current school, we got a 0% raise (no retro) for the first year and then a 1% raise for years 2 and 3.
Unforunately, these are the times we are living in right now. I will be happy with anything at this point as long as I do not get excessed again!

Are you sure APPR doesn't apply? The state had a deadline of January 17th for passed district plans otherwise funding could be cut this year. Did your district miss that deadline? In terms of raises, we got 0%

We received an email saying it doesn't apply about two weeks ago. The NYC teachers are also not in agreement yet I was told by my union rep. And that this looks bad for our district so we likely will have a contract negotiated soon. APPR is a raw deal for us.
Thanks for the responses. I heard my home district got a 3 percent raise....this with a nine million dollar budget that needs to be cut. Since its been four years without a raise I'm hopeful for a fair agreement.

Re: Teachers Without a Contract and Recently Settled Contracts
We were going through the motions of APPR but, the state sent it back last week because we are out of contract. They district was asking for a total salary freeze (no levels, nothing for taking credits.. nothing). But, now they HAVE to settle or lose funding so the union thinks we are getting a raise. At the very least, I think I will get the level I am due in April.

Re: Teachers Without a Contract and Recently Settled Contracts
We expire this year and are looking at a proposed 4 year contract--year 1: hard freeze, stay exactly where you end up this June; years 2, 3, & 4: 0% but still get steps and salary advancements

Re: Teachers Without a Contract and Recently Settled Contracts
we are in our first year working w/o. Manhasset settled last year a 2 yr contract 1 and 2 % I think.
I'm hoping for a contract in June...first year 0%, something small for next year.
