Counselor recommendations
I've just suffered an ectopic pregnancy. I'm having a lot of trouble getting through it and I would like to see a counselor. Does anyone have any recommendations? I'm located in mid-Nassau.
TIA

Re: Counselor recommendations
I don't know of any specific ones but when I lost my DS, there is a support group at St. Killian's in Farmingdale. Maybe you could start there and they could recommend an individual counselor.

If you were treated at a hospital you can call the social worker and they can probably give you a recommendation. Your OB might be able to recommend someone too.

Counselor recommendations
Thank you. I didn't go to the hospital, I had the methotrexate shot today and hopefully that will be it. I will be in touch with my OB over the next week or so and see if they know of anyone.
Ds319, I'm not religious at all and would feel uncomfortable with prayers and the like. Was the group very helpful to you?
Thanks again for your responses.

Re: Counselor recommendations
So sorry to hear about your loss When I had my ectopic in August, someone recommended Michelle Button in Smithtown and Alyson Ryan in West Babylon to me. In retrospect, I should have called and gone...being pregnant again has been very hard emotionally on me and I wish I had dealt with some of my emotions after my loss.

I think I went to this.
To the OP .. no, it wasn't religious (if this is the same one I went to anyway.. I don't remember it being religious.. I went with a fellow LIF'er) I just personally didn't feel comfortable. I had a loss at 17wks and I felt so out of place. Many of the other girls had losses later on like in the 3rd trimester.. they had pics of their babies.. some told stories of how their babies lived for a month, etc.. It was just SO sad.... but I felt like those losses overshadowed mine and I just did not feel like it was appropriate for me even though there were people there with losses of all types. It seemed like the people who were most vocal were the ones with losses further along. I never went back...
