Where to put cash
We have an HSBC o line account and the rate just dropped to .1% I have to move this $$ bc the rate is garbage. Any suggestions? I'm about to empty this account and send it to the mortgage company

Depends on how much you have. I have a savings at Td and it's .4 (I think the minimum is 10k)

We used some to pay down the mortgage and others to pay off student loans. I look at it like saving on the interest rate which is similar to getting interest only we are not paying as much of it.

I have some great options depending on the amount and time you plan to hold the funds. Downside market protection with upside growth potential.

My rate on my online ING and Discovery accounts also dropped so I transferred all the funds into my Bethpage Fed Credit Union Checking account. I get 1% APR on it as long as I use my Debit card for 15 transactions each month. So far, haven't had a problem. I would prefer to move it to a Savings account where its safer but none of the savings accounts have good rates now.
