Dr. Ogburn
Are any of you ladies familiar with Dr. Ogburn or any of the MFM docs from Stony Brook? I hear such great things about Kofinas but I live in Suffolk. Not sure if Kofinas takes insurance or would work with my docs out here.

Dr. Ogburn
I did not get a chance to meet the MFM doctors. I had an appt with one the day of my 12-week sonogram, and unfortunately found out at the sonogram that my baby had passed away a few days before, so they cancelled the MFM appointment. I have found everyone in University Associates in OBGYN to be really wonderful, competent people. I normally see the midwives, but they referred me to the MFM due to a prolapsed uterus. Ironically, i live in Nassau and travelleed all the way to Stony Brook for all my appts. I think there are a lot of competent doctors who don't get mentioned as often. It can't hurt to set up an appointment and see how you feel with them. If you don't feel they are right, you can keep searching, but at least you explored your option.

Re: Dr. Ogburn
I saw Dr Ogburn while I was pregnant with my girls. I really liked him a lot. He was cautious but let me make all of the decisions about bed rest, work, etc. He is a kind person with a great bedside manner.
ETA: Laura Lesch, their NP, is great too. We saw her a few times. I also saw Dr. Avila once during my pregnancy and once post partum at the hospital. I liked her as well. I don't believe the Dr. who delivered my girls is with them anymore. I don't see her name on their site.
