Is there a good guideline list for what you need for twins?

DH & I wanted to start to get an idea as to what we might need.. TIA!

Not really... If you are planning on breastfeeding get a twin pillow, that's my number one recommendation. If you're going to bottle feed, then lots of bottles!

For now I wouldn't really get two of anything except car seats, because one may like one thing, but not the other.
Maybe two rock and plays? I didn't have them for my twins, but my 3rd seemed to like it.

you'll also want a double snap and go. As much as I hated that thing because it was so long it did make things easier in the beginning.

Well you definitely will appreciate having:
(2) infant car seats
(2) extra bases for your second car
(2) convertible car seats (dont buy them now, get them when they outgrow the infants 2 years from now)
(2) high chairs - my kitchen is small so I used the ones that attach to my kitchen chairs. Love them for space and money savings but if you have a big kitchen I could see how having regular highchairs might be nice.
(1-2) vibrating seats ( I would get 2 different ones)
(1-2) swings (I would get 2 different ones for variety)
(1-2) exersaucers and or jumparoos (I would get two different ones)
(1) double snap n go for your infant car seats
(1) regular lightweight double stroller I have several strollers and can not say enough good things about my combi. I have a $700 bumbleride indi twin and while it is gorgeous and awesome for when I am walking the neighborhood, at the zoo or somewhere for long periods of time it is aweful for a fast trip to the store. I tried umbrella strollers and I have to say it is MUCH faster and MUCH lighter than a double umbrella stroller. Please go to Buy Buy Baby and check it out. Use a coupon and get it 20% off. In fact don't buy anything big there without a coupon.

I had an arms reach original cosleeper in my bedroom and 3 people gave me pack n plays. I barely used those though.. You will find LOTS of those available for cheap.


I started out with one of everything and then got seconds once I knew what they liked which was basically everything. LOL

I found that having safe places to put them in each room was very helpful. So I had the vibrating chairs in my bedroom or den and the swings in my living room. When they didn't want the swings anymore, I swapped them out for the exersaucer and jumparoo.

The best advice I can give you is don't buy new, you can find so many mint condition things at garage sales, craigslist, ebay, buy n sell on facebook, and previously owned childrens stores. I bought a jumparoo for my girls for 129. at buy buy baby, my parents got two mint condition exersaucers at a second hand garage store for $15-$20 each. Plastic easily wipes clean and most seats are removable for easy washing. Also really good to pick up some extras for grandparents house if you plan to be there often.

Use the extra money you will save buying second hand, to invest in top of the line car seats and stroller(s). Really there are so many things you only use for a small time and most have washable seat covers.

My girls did ultimately end up having two... exersaucers/jumparoos, swings, vibrating chairs.

Things I wish I had known before having them... If you are going to formula feed, I would start off using the playtex drop in bottles. I went thru so many different bottles. Forget glass, it is way to heavy for them and they may at some point hit each other in the heads with things. They make life SOOOOO much easier, only having to swap out a sleeve and wash the nipple and collar. Rather than having to wash up to 5 different parts with other bottles. keeping a baggie of powder, extra sleeves and maybe extra nipples in your diaper bag is much easier than lugging around multiple bottles. You can mix up formula fresh with bottled water and not have to worry about how long the formula has been out or worry about keeping it cool.

And I can't say enough good things about buying only ZIPPERED feety pajamas. Avoid snaps as much as possible. you will thank me during the many 3am diapers changes you do when sleep deprivation has you fumbling already. In fact just the massive repetition of all tasks makes everything so time consuming that any steps you can skip make it just a little easier on you :o)

double snap and go. when are you due? i have one that i can pass on to you for free once my kids outgrow it.

2 bouncers (helps when you have to feed both at once)

2 infant car seats/bases

agree with the above about ZIPPERED sleep and plays, so much easier in the middle of the night lol but if your kids are in the nicu (hope not!) they only let us put on button ones because the wires had to be able to come out.

tons of bibs!

diapers and more diapers lol

get bottles that come in 2 different colors that way you dont confuse whose bottle is whose when you put them down next to eachother. (Dr. Browns comes in blue pink and white and babies r us)
