Sick Betta

i am very sad....my betta fish "Fis" is very sick. He has been sick for a few days now and we thought that he was just constipated so we did all the things that we read about. But now we find out that he has dropsy and will probably died in the next few days.

I never thought that I could be so attached to a fish but "Fis" had such a puppy like personality. He would greet us when we came home and even con us to feed him. he would swim around and flap his little wings.
all excited!!!

now I don't know what to do.

So sorry about your fish! When my Beta, Howard got sick I was the same way. I got him when I went through my 2nd IVF and I miscarried. He was my focal point when I did my next 2 ivfs and finally got pregnant with my now DD. He died a few days before I delivered and I was really upset. I even called a local pet store that specialized in fish but in my case it was too late. Have you tried bringing him to a fish store to see if they can help you figure out whats wrong? They can test the water for you.

we took him to the store yesterday and that is how we found out what was wrong with him. we thought that he was just constipated but they told us out his scales. when we got home we googled the disease and it was right. there is nothing that you can do for them at this point.

I'm sorry! I know how you feel though as crazy as it sounds. I got mine while I was going through infertility, right after my first miscarriage. I was so attached to that fish because he was my focal point when I would get my injections. I went through 2 more ivfs after my miscarriage and he ended up dying after I got pregnant with my now dd. I called the fish store in a panic because I couldn't have him die. The guy on he phone was probably like lady are you for real but I was hysterical over. My beta died from the same thing too
