What are "stims" related to ASD?

If you don't mind sharing.....what are some "stims" that you see in your children with ASD? I know hand-flapping, rocking, jumping....any others? My son was diagnosed with PDD-NOS and he doesn't exhibit any of these behaviors. I am just trying to gain a better understanding of what an ASD "stim" is and to see if I'm missing anything. What are

It can be any repetitive behavior. DD is also PDD-NOS and had no stims until she started K. Then I think she was mimicking the other kids...eye blinking, hair twirling, picking fingers, taping foot. Each only lasted a couple of weeks and then it moves to something else. Now she wears a silly band and plays with that when she's feeling anxious or excited.

For DS his stims have usually only been oral. When he was younger he would hum and say "eeeeeeeeeee" nearly all day. Now that he is older, he stims but with less frequency. If he is really tired, he will do a motor sound or if he is having a bad day he will repeat the same phrase over and over "twinkle twinkle little star...twinkle twinkle little star...twinkle twinkle little star..."

Some of the kids in my class do smaller hand motions, rotating a finger or hand near their eye, waving a pencil back and forth, etc. Also, some of my students stim off of trains or wheels on toys, ceiling fans, running past a fence or brick wall, really anything running past their eyes repetitively. Also, I have one student who rolls his eyes a certain way, and that is a stim for him. It can be a number of repetitive, self-stimulatory behaviors.
