Sensory Friendly Movie
I wanted to share. Today we went to the Sensory movie at the AMC/Lowes theater in Stonybrook (there are other LI locations as well). They have a movie once a month in which the lights are not as dimmed and the volume is lower. And its ok for your child to yell out or stand up and down. My son was yelling "So Funny" for half of the movie and continually standing up and sitting down and it wasn't big deal.
The shows are for autistic children but my DS is not autistic and it was fine. Here is the link for anyone interested.

Re: Sensory Friendly Movie
So funny we went to the one in Levittown yesterday my daughter has sensory problem with her ear & hates loud noises so that was the 1st time she was at the movies. She loved it. She sat the whole time & wants to go again!! My DS was harder as he is speech, learning, & sensory disabled & younger he was also runing up & down the aisles with his friend but was good for his first time too.

Sensory Friendly Movie
We saw the Lorax at the SF film and it was PACKED because they used a tiny theater for it. It wasn't that pleasant to be honest since my child doesn't like sitting right next to people he doesn't know. Was this one in the larger theater?

It's once a month, typically on a Saturday morning, I think around 10am

Re: Sensory Friendly Movie
I would advise to call the theater the day before, as we showed up at 10am & the doors were locked but the worker came to the door & was very nice & said the website was wrong & my theater that day started at 10 she gave me passes for free tickets to get in that day cause I came so early. Next month I will be calling the day before.
We also had a big theater. Look at the web site there are a few theaters to choose from, so if that one was to small I would take your child next month to a different one. We had a whole row to our selves so my son was running up & down it.

The issue wasn't the venue in general, we saw it at the Lowes in Stonybrook, which does have regular size theaters. The one they showed this movie in just happened to be the tiny one.
