Teachers - portfolio assessment question
I feel like this is the stupidiest question ever, so bear with me!
I am teaching a new class this year and it's heavily project-oriented. How do you use portfolio assessment when multiple people work on a project? Do you just make copies of the finished project and put one in each portfolio??

Re: Teachers - portfolio assessment question
Make multiple copies and also try and make up a rubric and attach it or clip it to the project. The rubric can include different catagories such as
planning/layout/organization research group participation/cooperation individual contributions creativity
etc depending on the project at hand.
portfolio or authentic assessments can literally be ANYTHING --- I took a class in this over the summer. Please let me know if you need help.
also it is great if the kids can help you create the rubric -- they can decide what catagories are worthwhile to the project and how many points should be given to each area.
eta also in my class the professor stressed how important it is to allow the kids to chose what pieces go into their portfolios, as well as to have some specific projects that you let them know beforehand will go in their portfolio.
you can also include self-assessments for each piece in the portfolio or large pieces -- where they write a response to the assignment, fill out a smiley face chart or grade themself using the rubric that you created.
