boys' socks

Do any of your boys wear high athletic socks on a day to day basis, i.e. not just for sports? My son wants "high socks" to wear with shorts. This reminds me of the 70s! I thought maybe the kids at school were wearing them but I never see his friends in them. I think he may have gotten the idea from watching basketball. Where do I get them and will he still want them in summer? Do you think he is referring the the athletic ones?

Re: boys' socks

They are totally "in." My boys don't wear them because they have to wear them for sports and they claim the long socks make them hot, but lots of their friends wear them.

You can probably find them at Dicks or Sports Authority.

Yep, their in. Just not plain white ones! I always see my sons friends have them on in funky colors. With even wackier color shorts!

Re: boys' socks

This is great to know. I wouldn't have been totally shocked if he was just marching to his own beat & asking for something that no one else has but I didn't want to buy them & then have him feel weird wearing them. Are they wearing 3/4 height or all the way up to the knees or both? I guess I should show him some online pictures because I think that he knows exactly what he wants.

I love those shorts, even the ones with crazy colors, so I guess my son's taste isn't far from mine. He's only 5 also. I guess some kids pick up on styles by having older siblings. I have no idea where my son has seen the socks. I didn't notice that in his class & I was just on a field trip & was recently secret reader.

I think he might be talking about Lacrosse socks. Those are very in right now. They come up half way up the shin

Thanks. That's what I am thinking, b/c any kids I ever see in those socks are also always wearing lacrosse shorts (I already love those shorts). I found some high socks that he likes but there was not a huge selection. I am going to try the sporting goods stores next.
