REC your GPS watch
Why do you love it?
I'm looking for something reliable, hopefully not too expensive.
ETA: what should I look for in features?
I basically want something to track my pace/miles, cause I'm starting to run without music YAY, so I don't want to rely on my phone apps anymore. I want to be able to glance down & we where I'm at & to push harder.

Mile tracking Spinoff: REC your GPS watch
Garmin. Any of them are great. I have an older model. The 310 I think but the regular 10 which is only 129 is outstanding. It keeps track of your runs/paces/ and gives you feedback. I love Garmin. Solid product.

Mile tracking Spinoff: REC your GPS watch
I bought the Nike+ GPS watch which is powered by TomTom and you can get one for $149 now. They were $199 when they first came out last year.
I decided to get this one over the Garmin because I had already been using nike+ products (the foot pods that worked with the ipod nano) since 2009 and I had a lot of history on the nike+ website I did not want to give up. The watch is much more accurate than using the foot pods alone.

Re: Mile tracking Spinoff: REC your GPS watch
It basically tracks mileage based on your stride. it fits inside nike+ sneakers (if you don't have the sneakers you can just strap it onto any sneaker)
The new ipod nanos don't use the foot pod anymore
but the sportband does - check out this link for me detailed explaination
Nike+ Sportband with foot pod
Here you can see all the different Nike+ Gear

Re: Mile tracking Spinoff: REC your GPS watch
I have a Garmin and it is amazing - best purchase ever. Actually it was a gift from DH so best gift ever lol. I use it all the time for short runs, long runs and even walks!
I have the 405 model and it was pricey…I think it has since been placed with the 610 though. It has a heart rate monitor and a lot of features…including a virtual partner which is great when running a race. Basically you set your goal time and it tells you if you are ahead or behind pace. It also has a few screens so you can see more than 3 things at a time…i.e. if I want to see my pace, my time, my miles, my heart rate, the time of day, calories, etc. That wont all fit on one screen but it rotates to show me everything. I dont know what I would do without this watch lol - it is seriously awesome.
Another awesome thing is you can look at your splits after you are done with a workout. Not sure if all models offer this but it is helpful to me. IT keeps a total of my workout…i.e. how many miles I did, plus total calories, avg mile pace, etc. And it keeps a counter of how many miles you have run overall throughout the year. I think it resets every so often, maybe after 500 miles. Also you can sync with your computer and get more details and see hills, etc. I stopped doing this though, I am lazy.
It is a little bulky but I dont mind it. Also the biggest downside is it DOES NOT have a replaceable battery…you have to charge it. So ones the watch dies forever it is done - so dumb. I have had mine 3.5 years and still going strong so that is good. Also I have to remember to charge it every week or every few days…again just annoying but I am used to it now.
I think the 210 and 110 models look pretty decent. Not sure what the 10 offers - but it is a good price!
Sorry for the long post but HTH!

Re: Mile tracking Spinoff: REC your GPS watch
I have the Garmin 110 and love it. All I want is to track miles, time and pace, and it does that. I am sure some of the newer models are fancier, do more, but I paid under 150 for mine on amazon and couldn't be happier.

What's a foot pod?
It's for the treadmill. You put it on your shoe lace and it "talks o your gps watch" transmitting info. Hardly use it.

Re: REC your GPS watch
I have a Garmin. I think it's the 305. It's a bit older and has a HRM.
As far as features, it depends on what you want to do. I mean how involved in the data you want to get and if you want to do a lot of custom runs and things.
I believe there's a comparison chart on the Garmin website and that should help you narrow down what you need.
I think some of the simpler models don't allow you to do things like custom speed interval workouts, which may or may not be important to you.
