HR Reps.. I need your advice!
I had a face to face interview that went extremely well. Probably the best one I ever had in my life, to be honest. The Director I interviewed with was ultimately the one who would be the one to make the hiring descision. At the end of the interview he said to me "You will be hearing from someone in HR by the end of next week", in those exact words WITH a smile, and insisted that I would be a great fit.
He wasn't kidding. I did hear back from someone within 3 business days. An HR rep sent me an application as well as a compensation history document. I filled it out promptly & returned it. A few hours later, I receive an email from an HR rep requesting a phone interview.
Weird.
I'm a bit confused because generally phone interviews are done by HR r as a first round to basically filter out all possible candidates. If there is a fit, they will then send your resume to a hiring manager for a face to face interview. This was completely opposite.
Does anyone know what this could mean? Why a phone interview AFTER the face to face? What should I expect?
FWIW: This is a HUGE international company.
Thanks!

I don't think it's that uncommon. Some HR departments come in for the cursory interview but ultimately the manager makes the decision. They may have some minor things to go over with you (background check, salary history confirmation, reference checks).
What it means is you are still in the running.

Common
And may have to do with how you come off on the phone - they may wanna see.
Honestly a lot of interview processes are weird or backwards especially with big companies
Good luck!!

Re: HR Reps.. I need your advice!
It sounds like a good sign.
I just completed the hiring process for the largest employer here on LI.
It was a lot of back and forth with HR, but ultimately, I know the Director of the program was the one who gave the green light to hire me.
Everything related to that however went through HR.
She couldn't even discuss salary & benefits with me----HR had to do it.

Re: HR Reps.. I need your advice!
I think it is a very good sign - I work for a very large employer and the protocol they have to follow to hire someone is unbelievable! It *sounds* to me like having a phone interview with HR is just part of the process and is a box they have to check off on a form that it was completed.
Best of luck to you!!!
